Binding with some knocks and damage, particularly to the corner of volume one which has been bumped at some point. The covers of volume two holding on but hinges weak. Pages beautiful, bright and clean throughout though, with gorgeous marbled endpapers. Despite faults, the gilt and spine labels are very attractive, the set looks good on the shelf and is very readable. Another of Edmondo De Amicis’s thoughtfully written travel-histories, enhanced by evocative photographs.
