Wim Crouwel (1928โ€“2019) was a monumental figure in 20th-century graphic design. He is highly regarded for his systematic, grid-based approach to layout and typography, which earned him the nickname “The Gridnik.” His work heavily influenced modern modernist design, exhibition poster layouts, and computer-oriented typography, such as his famous 1967 “New Alphabet Signed and inscribed by Wim Crouwel on the title page for his colleague and notable architect in his own right, Neil Denari.
